I’m Troy Mills, a proud native of Southeastern Montana, where I grew up in a small town nestled in the heart of cattle country. My childhood was shaped by the family ranch, and when I wasn’t working the land, I was hunting in the outdoors. After graduating high school in 2005, I headed to Bozeman, MT, for college. During the summers, I worked on a fire crew based out of Polson, fighting fires in Montana, Idaho, and Utah. I earned my degree in Ag Business Management with a Minor in Economics.
After college, I returned to my hometown to begin ranching on my own. Not long after, I had the opportunity to purchase my first small piece of farm ground. I started out by renting equipment and growing wheat until I could afford my own haying equipment. To make ends meet in the early years, I worked construction in the summers and guided hunters in the fall. Slowly, I built up my operation, adding hay production and breeding heifers while expanding my cow herd and acquiring more land. These years taught me the ins and outs of ranching finances—there’s truly no substitute for hands-on experience.
My passion for land eventually led me to a career in real estate with my uncle, Slug, who had a successful business built on integrity, honesty, and the power of a firm handshake. I’ve been a realtor for 7 years, working with ranches, residential properties, commercial real estate, and land transactions. In 2022, after guiding hunters for 12 years, I had the opportunity to start my own outfitting business.
Today, I’m focused on ranching, outfitting, and real estate with my wife and two young boys by my side. The lessons I’ve learned throughout my journey inform how I help others with their property ventures, and I remain committed to the strong business values my uncle instilled in me from the start.
